Here is the simple recipe I used to grow green water to feed my Daphnia. You need: - 1 gallon glass jar or tank - Miracle-Gro Water Soluble All Purpose (24-8-16) - Air pump and airline tubing - Mesh to cover the top Steps: 1. Fill the jar with water from one of your aquariums. That seeds it. It doesn't need to be green water. 2. Add 1/8 teaspoon of Miracle-Gro and stir. 3. Run the airline to the bottom and turn on the air. 4. Cover the top with mesh. This keeps mosquitoes out. 5. Put it outside. It doesn't need direct sun. Mine got 2 to 3 hours of direct sun and indirect light the rest of the day, in Southern California. 6. Wait. Mine went fully green in about 5 days.
